"The attack occurred while workers who went to celebrate the May Day celebration were returning home. You know most of them live around the suburbs," a government official reported.
The latest attack is coming just few days to the World Economic Summit which is scheduled to hold in Abuja, the country's capital.
The dead as well as the injured have been taken to the Asokoro Hospital where they are being attended to at the Emergency Ward of the hospital, according to the NEMA source.

Eye witnesses said that some of the victims had their body parts shattered while some burnt beyond recognition.
At the time of this report, rescue efforts were still going on while security officials who were caught unawares have barricaded the entire area and all routes leading to the scene of the attack.
The NEMA official said so far, 17 bodies had been recovered. "Rescue is still ongoing. So I can't give you a specific figure now," he said on the phone.
While ambulances are moving dead bodies to the morgue, it was learnt that families have thronged the hospital waiting to identify corpses and the injured as they search for their relations.
Residents of the area has accused the military of making the attack easy. In their words,” the traffic situation caused by the stop and search did not work, instead it created the crowd that was attacked.”
"We have been complaining that it was risky carrying out a stop-and-search after those who attacked had done the deal.
Now, what is the essence of the
military presence in the area? They asked.
