When the news of the break-up between both parties reached us, we put a call through to Sunday Are, who confirmed being the one receiving the call but when we asked him the question below, he instantly terminated the call:
“We have reports that you and D’banj have parted ways and that he is presently no longer under your management portfolio – Is this true?”
Giving him the benefit of doubt, we called two more times – He did not pick the second time and cut off the call while it rang the third time.
For those who might not know, this marks the second time both parties will have to go their separate ways since the initial split in 2013.
For the records, Sunday Are has worked with a number of A-list acts including D’banj, Don Jazzy, Wizkid and Omawunmi.
We should also be reminded that the ongoing incident comes with a feeling of Déjà vu as we have once witnessed this in the past.
In the heat of the defunct Mo’Hits separation, Are remained very silent to the point of deciding not to comment on the situation until he eventually granted a highly revealing interview to a print media establishment.
In the interview, Are opened up on why he parted ways with D’banj after Mo’Hits packed up and also details his current relationship with the other members of the defunct label.
