Land Owners, Thugs Stalls Operations In UBA Over Land Dispute …Bank Subsidiary, AfriLand Properties Fingered

One of Nigeria financial institutions, United Bank Of Africa (UBA) is allegedly entangled in land dispute mess with families who claims to be rightful owners of a piece of land. The bank subsidiary, Afriland Properties, formerly UBA properties is at the helm of the controversy.
A branch of the bank sits on a controversial land that is located in U-turn, Bus stop in Abule Egba, Lagos. Information at our reach revealed that the financial institution is a tenant in the building, but its subsidiary, Afriland bought it over from a lawyer representing the family who claim to be the owner.
It was gathered that immediately the purchase got to the ears of the Arowolo’s family who are the rightful owners of the plots of land, a letter was served to Afriland and all occupants of the building including UBA to vacate.
Those in the known alleged that both UBA and Afriland turned deaf ears to the warning seeing it as empty threat. But hell was let loose few months ago when land owner and thugs stormed the premises of the UBA shooting and vandalizing properties around which eventually disrupted banking transaction on that day.  Eye witnesses alleged that Automated Teller Machines (ATM) in the bank premises was vandalized, as customers run for shelter from stray bullets. Intervention of the policemen on that day brought normality to the environment and reduced the level of brutality meted out on customers by the incident.
Impeccable source divulged that AfriLand has vowed not to make payment again to any family but the Arowolo family who claim to be the rightful owner are set to fight with the last drop of blood to get the land back. It was gathered that the family has given both UBA and Afriland till February 7 to make necessary payment or vacate the land in its entirety.  The Arowolo family promises to storm the bank again very soon if their conditions are not met.
