The calculated effort of businessman and the Chairman of Capital Oil, Ifeanyi Ubah to use the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria(TAN) to place himself in the good books of President Goodluck Jonathan suffered a major blow recently when the group was ban from taking part in the last PDP convention where the President emerged as the party’s flagbearer for the presidential election in 2015.
Information scooped by papermacheonline was that the President ordered his campaign committee to exclude every activities of TAN for the convention.
TAN which has been accorded a place as the biggest campaign platform for the President’s re-election was said to have irked some of the President’s men with its activities and they reasoned that the mission of the group to do a solid public relations for the President is on the contrary as its doing the President’s ambition more harm than the purpose forwhich it was created.
A source hinted that the embarrassing #BRINGBACKJONATHAN2015 campaign with billboards all over Abuja was believed to have been one of TAN’s many campaign strategies that puts the group in an offside position with the President.
The embarrassing billboards was alleged to have been targeted at sailing the interest of the President but landed on the wrong side, a campaign TAN quickly dissociate itself from.
Some other minor lapses of the group like the ugly situation when some of TAN’s vendors disrupted activities at a political rally over unsettled bills was said to have reached the President.
One of the President’s aides reportedly exclaimed on how and why ‘somebody who knows he doesn’t have the funds is struggling to sponsor the President’s campaign projects’.
Insiders revealed that Ifeanyi Ubah’s target was to get the support of some friends to operate TAN, but many of the people he approached turned down the request based on their past dealings with him.
The businessman was said to be left with a little option than to approach a bank who provided him with some cash to float the project which along the line became heavily indebted to its officials and vendors who are in the habit of staging a showdown at any given opportunity.
It was also revealed that the First Lady, Patience Jonathan also supported the group with some funds which was insufficient for its larger operations which runs all over the country.
Ubah was said to have prepared the group for the convention where he hoped to redeem the image of TAN.
Sources revealed that TAN has paid all its agents in advance in preparation for the convention.
The likes of gospel musician, Yinka Ayefele and 001-Event owned by Tokunbo Modupe had been contracted to supply music, stage and lightings when the order came that TAN had been left out of the programmes.
Many of its agents who had been paid in advance could not leave their hotel rooms when they were served the bad news.
TAN’s convener, Ifeanyi Ubah was said to be shocked as he was spotted carrying a dejected look throughout that day.
The businessman who has vowed to celebrate the re-opening of his Capital Oil company with the inauguration of the President in 2015 is back plotting his moves to regain the confidence of the President.
TAN was said to have been applauded for its concept of raising support signatures in some part of the country for the re-election of the President who later detected the harm in its operation when a protest of TAN’s agents during a politicial event was largely reported in the media.
It is claimed that Ifeanyi has been reaching out to some of the closest aides to the President to present his case before him and his willingness to improve.
