Monumental Banking Fraud: FCMB Exposed In Diversion Of Over 1 Billion Naira Of Customer’s Funds

During the course of the hearing FCMB’s own documents have exposed that FCMB diverted ₦250 million from its customer’s account, and then having done this;

1.     had the brazen cheek to complain to the customer that it was now overdrawn by more than the agreed limit of ₦200 million, charged extortionate interest in excess of ₦69 million on the resulting overdraft (all of the ₦69 million in interest was accrued in under a year), further debited the customer over ₦113 million in bogus charges arising from unauthorised and illegal Bankers Acceptance instruments initiated by the bank and then not content with this;

2.     placed the customer in receivership when the customer disputed the bank’s demands that the customer should “repay” over ₦465 million!

The Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, has sacked the auditor-general of local government areas of the state, Ambrose Edeh; heads of personnel management; and treasurers of the councils.
This followed their indictment by the State House of Assembly for alleged involvement in the embezzlement of over N1 billion in the local government system in the last six months.
The Ebonyi State House of Assembly had accused the caretaker committee chairmen of the local government areas of financial misappropriation amounting to over N1 billion.
It also accused the heads of personnel management and treasurers of the local government areas of conniving with the council chairmen to loot the treasuries of the various councils.
Twelve out of the 13 caretaker committee chairmen resigned their appointment last week following the lawmakers’ resolution.

Nigeria faces one of the largest burdens of micro-nutrient deficiencies, with anaemia the most common with a big impact on health of women and children, the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, NSN, have disclosed.
Specifically, 49 per cent of women of reproductive age have anaemia, 24.3 per cent have low iron stores and 12.7 per cent of them are iron deficient.
These figures indicate that majority of the adolescent girls and women did not meet the iron requirements of 20 milligrams per day as recommended by the Food and Agricultural Organisation and, the World Health Organisation.
Iron deficiency anaemia is a condition in which the red blood cells or their oxygen-carrying capacity is insufficient to meet physiological needs of the body. The symptoms of anaemic condition includes, fatigue, dizziness, weakness, drowsiness, shortages of breath and all these militate against active living and human productivity as iron is critical to learning process and energy for day to day activities.

Jonathan Sacks IGP Suleiman Abba; Appoints DIG Solomon Arase As Replacement

President Goodluck Jonathan  has fired Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba.

The sack was announced by the president’s spokesperson, Reuben Abati, in a statement on Tuesday.

No reason was given for the sack.

A Deputy Inspector General of police, Solomon Arase, was appointed to act in his stead.

Strange Disease Kills 14 In Ondo State

A strange ailment has broken out and killed about 14 people in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, south west Nigeria.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju, said the disease, discovered on Wednesday, is strange and it’s symptoms include headache and loss of sight.

He informed that local and international health institutions are already carrying out investigations on the causes and treatment of the ailment.
Dr Adeyanju also allayed the fears of the residents of the area and the state, stating that the situation is under control.
